Cayambe sin limites.

Luego de haber disfrutado de la comida en La Plaza Foch, me toco ir en busca de un lugar que había contactado para hacer el tour a el volcán Cayambe, no soy muy asiduo a los tours pero esta vez era necesario. Quito es una ciudad hermosa y empece caminando hasta encontrar la agencia que se llama “Mountain Tours”. Hice mi reservación y me indicaron todo lo que necesitaba llevar en mi recorrido, me pareció todo bien en cuestión de las cosas que iba a necesitar y todo lo que nos ofrecían en el valor del tour, un box lunch con varios tipos de alimentos que nos serviría para nuestro recorrido.

Salimos muy temprano desde Quito con rumbo al Parque Nacional Cayambe, luego de dos horas de viaje llegamos a una estación de gasolina donde nos dieron un tiempo para desayunar.

Luego de desayunar salimos rumbo a la entrada del Parque Nacional Cayambe donde llegamos y unas camionetas nos esperaban.

El camino hasta llegar al Volcán Cayambe esta en malas condiciones, hay piedras de todo tamaño que hace que el camino sea sólo para vehículos 4x4. Luego de apróximadamente 30 minutos de camino largo y doloroso, <las piedras si que nos hicieron saltar muchas veces>, llegamos a el refugio donde ingresamos sin problema y se pudo comer el lunch que nos habían dado.

Una de las mejores cosas de este viaje fue el reunirnos con personas que iban a escalar el Cayambe en la noche para amanecer en la cumbre, fue en ese momento que me dieron ganas de poder acompañarlos y alcanzar alguna cumbre de estos mágicos volcanes.

Luego nos preparamos y empezamos nuestra caminata hacia el glaciar, la verdad que se me hizo muy fácil, después de llegar a 5000 mts con el Chimborazo y 4800 mts con el Cotopaxi, el Cayambe y su glaciar fue más sencillo, como recomendación si van hacer este recorrido empiecen escalando el Cayambe.

Esperaba ver más nieve pero en esta época no había tanta nieve como deseaba, pero lo disfrute mucho, ver su hielo azúl tan limpio, y como el calentamiento global hace que se produzcan pequeñas vertientes producto del deshielo me hacia pensar en un mundo que sufre y debemos cuidar.

Camino al Glaciar

El Cayambe ha sido el volcán más hermoso que he visto aunque no hubo nieve en su totalidad unas de las mejores fotos que he podido tomar han sido aquí, el Cayambe es un volcán sin límites que hace que cada paso que se da se lo disfrute aún mas.

Llego el momento del regreso a Quito y de nuevo estábamos en las camionetas, a mi retorno iba conversando con la guía que me explicó los diferentes tours que se ofrecen al público y además de nuestro guía Patricio Tisalema, la primera persona del continente en ascender al Everest y sin oxígeno en el 2006. Mi impresión fue tan grande con todo lo que había hecho en ascenso de montaña.

Bizcochos de Cayambe

Antes de partir a Quito llegamos a la ciudad de Cayambe donde fuimos a comprar los famosos quesos de hoja y bizcochos, no hay que olvidar sus dulces que encantan a todos quienes los prueban. Hay que visitar Cayambe y probar estas delicias hechas al instante que son disfrutadas por personas de su localidad,  turistas nacionales y extranjeros.

Quito is a beautiful city and I started to walk until I found the agency called Mountain Tours. We left very early from Quito to the Cayambe National Park, after two hours of travel we arrived at a gas station where they gave us a time to have breakfast.

After breakfast we left for the entrance to the Cayambe National Park where we arrived and some vans were waiting for us.

The road to the Cayambe Volcano is in poor condition, there are stones of all sizes that make this road only for 4x4 vehicles. After about 30 minutes of long and painful road, the stones made us to jump many times, we arrived at the shelter where we entered without problem and we could eat the lunch that they had given us.

One of the best things about this trip was meeting with people who were going to climb the Cayambe that night to dawn on the summit, it was at that moment that I wanted to be able to accompany them and reach some summit of these magical volcanoes.

Then we got ready and started our trekking to the glacier, the truth is that it became very easy, after reaching 5000 meters with the Chimborazo and 4800 meters with Cotopaxi, the Cayambe and its glacier was easier, as a recommendation if you are going to do this tour, You need to start with the Cayambe which is the lowest of all.

I was hoping to see more snow but at this time there was not as much snow as I wanted, but I enjoyed it a lot, to see its blue ice so clean, and since global warming produces small slopes caused by melting ice, it mades me think of a world that suffers and We have to take care it.

The Cayambe has been the most beautiful volcano I've seen, although there was no snow in its entirety. Some of the best photos I could have taken were here, the Cayambe is a volcano without limits that makes every step that is taken to enjoy it even more.

It was time to return to Quito and again we were in the pickup trucks,  I was talking with the guide who explained the different tours that there were and besides our guide Patricio Tisalema, the first person from the continent to ascend the Everest without oxygen in 2006. My impression was so great with everything that he had done in the mountains.
